about

Mission

RACE is a network of European organisations working to conserve reptiles and amphibians. By coordinating across borders, member organisations share expertise and best practice rather than working in isolation — keeping conservation action consistent and effective across the continent.

History

RACE was founded on 17 July 2017 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, by five European reptile and amphibian conservation organisations. The model follows existing pan-European networks such as BirdLife Europe, BatLife Europe and Butterfly Conservation Europe — independent national organisations that gain more by coordinating research, surveys, advocacy and awareness together than by working alone.

The original founders of RACE

RACE is a network of organisations across Europe that have a key role in taking forward the conservation of amphibians and reptiles. The organisation develops and shares best practice and collectively generates greater expertise and seeks to communicate this consistently across Europe to key audiences
